At Dell EMC World 2016, Dell announced it enabled interoperability of Dell Data Protection Endpoint Security Suite Enterprise (DDP | ESSE), which provides data encryption and threat detection, with Mozy by Dell, which provides cloud-based data backup and recovery.

Akamai announced that it has acquired Soha Systems in an all-cash deal. Soha provides enterprise secure access as a service.

Illumio announced that Goldman Sachs has recognized Illumio CEO and Co-Founder Andrew Rubin as one of the 100 Most Intriguing Entrepreneurs for the second year in a row. Goldman Sachs selected Rubin as one of 100 entrepreneurs in 2016 from multiple industries to be honored.

Microsoft is offering up a new server design that it hopes will influence the rest of the data center industry, a move that keeps pressure on hardware vendors like Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co. to lower the price of cloud infrastructure.

CyberArk, the company that protects organizations from cyber-attacks that have made their way inside the network perimeter, announced new technology interoperabilities with RSA products to help organizations quickly detect and mitigate advanced security risks, while delivering a more intelligent, holistic approach to identity and access management.

Veeam Software has announced that initial interest for its newest solution, Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365, has exceeded initial expectations with more than 1,500 beta downloads in a matter of days, showing customers are eager to take control of their Office 365 Exchange Online data.

Microsoft will be making PowerApps and Flow, two of its power-user development tools, generally available as of November 1. PowerApps is for building web and mobile business applications without coding. Flow, Microsoft’s version of IFTTT (If This Then That), is its business-process automation tool.

At the Cisco Partner Summit, the tech giant announced Cisco AMP for Endpoint, a security solution which combines prevention, detection and response technologies using Cisco’s threat-centric security architecture.

NetApp President and CEO George Kurian discusses the company’s role in all-flash array technology nearly a year after the Sunnyvale, California-based company acquired all-flash storage systems leader SolidFire.

California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) overhauled the computer labs for its aerospace and biomedical engineering programs by implementing virtual desktops and applications. Rather than replace 288 desktop PCs with newer models, the IT department deployed Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop virtualization technology, as well as the Citrix NetScaler ADC application delivery controller and load balancer.

Pure Storage, the market’s leading independent solid-state array vendor, recently announced that its industry leading, Satmetrix-audited Net Promoter Score (NPS) has increased to 83.5. The improved score is a reflection of the company’s dedicated focus on building a storage business based on customer success, and ranks among the top one percent of Satmetrix-audited scores across consumer and enterprise businesses.

Splunk CEO Doug Merritt recently introduced the concept of an Enterprise Machine Data Fabric, which effectively integrates with and leverages all of the data across an organization’s heterogeneous technical landscape.
